This card is doing triple duty this week. It's all green for the Mix it Up Monday Challenge over at StampTV. It's also made with scraps from my scrap drawer and it's a RAOK card for someone. I hope it brightens their day!

A Couple of StampTV Challenge Cards

Here are two cards for this week's Mix it Up Monday and Free For All Friday challenges on StampTV.com. The first card is a CASE card and the second is a SKETCH card. I had fun doing both of these and I discovered a new technique on the first card that I will share once I experiment some more.

Anyone notice....

For some reason any time I follow a blog it takes a couple of days for me to be able to add it to my "blogs I follow" widget. I don't know why it does this, but I find it rather annoying because I love to check which blogs have posted something recently.

I also decided to add the thumbnail to those blogs I follow to actually see what they are up to before I go.

If anyone has any good blogs they follow, feel free to post a comment with a link!

Check Out This Blog Candy

So I've discovered a cool new thing in the world of blogs. Blog Candy! People giving away cool stuff to help promote their blogs...not to mention getting more people addicted to cool crafting stuff. Here's a neat bit from She Stamps!

Click on the link above to check it out! Or...click on the link in my Blogs I follow section...if I can ever get the darn thing to work right.

Victorine Originals Challenge

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been particularly active this week. I've been working on a project for my mother and doing a lot of babysitting. Here's another card for a Victorine Originals Challenge. We really need more people to participate in these challenges I think. I wanted to try a technique I saw on an AC card tutorial which was glittering the back of a transparency. I added my bit of bling to hide the glue tape on the plastic. I also added some bling to the flowers cause it seemed like they needed something extra.

Using Magical Micas with Versamark

So Ink Stains did a cook post on the difference between Pearl-Ex versus Perfect Pearls. I decided to do my own test with Versamark and Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Micas. Here are my results. I found that they look best on black paper sprayed with hair spray. They didn't work as well sprayed with water simply because it made the dye run. I don't think it looks as good on white sprayed with hair spray unless you want that sort of look of course. The real draw of Magical Micas is the ability to use a water brush and paint them on surfaces like on the snow flake I did. I apologize for the pictures being in a weird order.

Waste Not Want Not Wednesdays

Here are two cards I created with all the small scraps I had laying around. I sanded and inked all the edges and glued them all on a card. I used Inkadinkaclings for one card and Tim Holtz stamps for the other.

Stargate Scrapbook Pages!

I am so excited about these scrapbook pages. I haven't mentioned it yet, but I am a total nerd! I love the show Stargate SG1 and while I was in college (the first time around) I created several clay pieces based on the show.

I struggled to come up with an idea of the background for scrapbook pages since there are no Stargate scrapbook kits out there. My initial idea was just to use plain black pages with green and grey to matte my photos on. I then had an epiphany! I have the Martha Stewart circle cutter so I used it to create a couple of two inch rings to create a paper Stargate. I then cut some 11 inch circles and used distress techniques as well as the Breakfast Club Blue Starburst Spray by Lindystampgang. I added a little pearl paint to the centers to mimic the "actual" Stargate. For the title page I didn't have enough grey paper so I just traced one on and painted it with Pearlex pigments. I painted the center with Pearlex Pigments, Magical Micas, and some acrylic inks. I also covered the sticker letters with gold and silver Alcohol Inks by Ranger to change them from green to metallic.

I added the finished scrapbook pages as well as the pages with just the Stargates on them. This was an interesting product and I'm glad I came up with a creative solution to my problem.

Simple Card for Stamptv's Mix it up Monday Challenge

Here is my card for Stamptv.com's Mix it up Monday challenge. The technique was to swipe stamp pads on paper. I started out with a simple Ivory card and swipe Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany, and Scattered Straw distress ink pads. I added a bit of ribbon and 2 paper flowers with an embossed brad in the center. I stamped a simple Colorbok saying on the front. This is the first "simple" card I've really done. I really like how it turned out.

Waste Not Want Not Wednesdays

Since I was busy babysitting all day, I'm uploading a card I did earlier this week. I originally wanted to submit this card to a publication, but since the glue job on the transparency didn't turn out the way I wanted it to I'm just going to upload it for my Wednesday feature. Everything on this card was scrap including the piece of transparency I stamped my image on. I painted the back with alcohol inks and threw a layer of white paint on top. I should have used some glue tape on the back of the image to adhere it or in the sides and added some embellishments. I know better now so next time I try this technique I can place it right. I used a technique I saw on a Youtube video and I would give you a link except I couldn't find the video again. I hope you all like the card. I love to make collage cards like this out of my small scraps, I think they turn out very well.

My New Home Made Stamp Pad Rack!

Photobucket
Photobucket

I am so excited to show off my new stamp pad rack. My father and I built this to fit at the bottom of my shelf that sits on my desk. We used 1x5s and pressed board. My dad routed the verticals to fit the little pressed board shelves. Everything is held together by wood glue and air gun staples. I did all of the measuring (it's certainly not perfect), and I held everything while my dad cut. It's awesome having a dad who has more tools than Sears to be able to build something like this in about 2 hours or so.

As you can see it perfectly fits in that little space. For a minute I thought it wasn't going to fit! I couldn't fit all of my stamp pads in it either, though most of what I kept in the drawer were little square stamp pads and some duplicates. I also have several unopened pads that are still shrink wrapped in there. The important part is that I fit all of the stamp pads I use most often or need to use more often. Now I just need to get to some more stamping!

Scrapbook Page Dump #2

Here's another pile of scrapbook pages. I did these quickly yesterday. For the Pewter Page I used a 12x12 from the DCWV set Once Upon a Time. The stickers were from a scrapbook shop in Florida that I purchased ages ago. I attempted to stamp with my ColorBox Platinum pad but when I went to seal it with some spray acrylic sealer it didn't seal perfectly. I rather like the more aged look though. The Speckled Goblet page 12x12 is from the DCWV Mariposa stack. I used some die cut butterflies decorated with gold glitter embossing powder and the circles were all cut out with Nestabilities dies. The Speckled Bowl Page 12x12 was another DCWV paper, this time from the Old World set. I used the left over paper from the Speckled Goblet page to create the center piece. The border piece is from K.& Company. The butterflies were some random die cuts I had that I colored with embossing powder.

Scrapbook Page Dump

Here are some more scrapbook pages I've been doing the past couple of days. Two of them were created using only Basic Grey materials while the others are made from various company products.

StampTVs Pink/Ivory/Grey Challenge Card

Here is my card for StampTV.com's Mix It Up Monday Challenge. The challenge was to create a card with Pink, Ivory, and Grey. I stamped the background with a background script stamp and layered cardstock. The focal image is a Colorbox stamp stamped in Anna Griffin hot pink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I created with swirls with hot glue and colored them using alcohol inks. I added a few little acrylic gems for some bling.

Nautical Cards for my mother

For a mother's day gift I made my mom several nautical themed greeting cards using stamps from Victorine Originals and a cool set of Pirate Letter stamps I acquired off ebay. I like how most of them turned out. I think now that I have Nestabilities I can do more with the circular stamps.
