Put Me In The Movies Blog Hop

Hi everyone! This is my first every Blog Hop. Bombshell Stamps is hosting this one and the theme is Put Me In The Movies. The challenge was to create a project using Bombshell Stamps and a Movie Poster as inspiration. This was my inspiration:
And here is my card:

I started with a plain white card and added a beige mat. My inspiration was the background in the poster with the yellow sky and dark blue waves. I used a piece of paper as a mask and some Crushed Curry ink from Stampin Up and added a bit of Scattered Straw. I used the edge of my distress ink pad to mimic the lines on the poster. For the water I used Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, and some old retired blue Stampin Up pads. I added the wave crests using a paint pen. The rock was just a plain piece of white drawing paper that I distressed using inks. I colored the mermaid with copic markers and Lindy's Stamp Gang products. I added a bit of shading to the gold/yellow with a water color pencil. This was my first real attempt at skin shading with copics so I hope it turned out well.

This is a blog hop so be sure to leave comments on everyone else's blogs!

Well Wishing Merbabies

I used these adorable baby mermaid stamps from Stamping Bella for the StampTV challenge Mix it up Mondays. The challenge was to create a card with a stripped background. I used my Lindy's Magical Micas to create the background and to help color the merbabies. I stamped the sentiment using my Captain Jack alphabet from Rusty Pickle. I picked up the alphabet off eBay awhile back and I'm glad I did since I found out after that the Rusty Pickle went out of business.

Also, Lindy's Stamp Gang is having a 1 day sale that ends at noon on Monday the 22nd. Everything is 20% off and they have free shipping for orders over $41! I was able to pick up a Try me Set, a set of Starburst Stains, a set of Magical Micas, and 1 lone Starburst Spray for $42. Check it out here: http://www.lindystampgang.com/

I've Been Published!

So I was checking out Crafting Ireland today. I submitted some cards and scrapbook pages for their third issue and I found one of my cards in there! I'm so excited! This is my first ever publication! Please be sure to check out Crafting Ireland and see all the other cool submissions and tutorials!

Waste Not Want Not Wednesdays: Birthday Mermaid

I came across Make it Crafty while looking at cards by other bloggers. I fell in love with their mermaid stamps at first sight. So when I had some extra cash I dropped about $60 bucks over at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design since she is a US supplier. They came in on Monday and I started stamping. This card was made with scraps of paper from my drawer except for the white cardstock I stampped on. I used the Siren of Pearls stamp for the main focal image and since I did not have an acutal seaweed stamp, I used part of a leafless tree stamp I've had lying around for while. It worked out great. I also added some bubbles using caps from various things. I wish to enter this card into Victorine Originals Birthday Card Challenge and Divas by Design Birthday Challenge.

Pathfinder Book Mark

The Free for All Friday on Stamptv this week is Bookmarks so I again used my digi stamp and made a bookmark for my Pathfinder magazines and books. I colored the white cardstock with Lindy's products, added some snowflake stickers and my character. I then laminated it and added the snowflake brads and two more stickers on the outside. I also added a little bit of ribbon on the top.

Pathfinder Folder Cover

I finally managed to get the cover for my Pathfinder folder done. For those of you who don't know what Pathfinder is, it's Paizo Publishing's incarnation of Dungeons and Dragons. When Wizards of the Coast decided not to renew Paizo's license to publish Dungeon and Dragon magazines, Paizo decided to start publishing their own adventure paths. Because the response was so great (and so many people didn't want to play 4th Edition D&D) Paizo came up with the Pathfinder system.

Pathfinder takes place on the world of Golarion, a vast and amazing planet. I love all of the countries and races they came up with. When we decided to go back to the Age of Worms campaign my friends brought all of their characters from my Rise of the Runelords campaign but I was left without a character. This character I'd originally made for an online campaign and I really wanted to play a different sort of character than I usually play, thus Ullevi Vladislava was born. She is an ice princess from the land of eternal winter - Irrisen. Like all of her kind, Ullevi is a descendant of the great witch Baba Yaga, but she also has a bit of celestial blood in her. She's not a particularly nice and friendly character. She's very haughty and actually a bit racist (as all of her kin are), but Ullevi has learned to work with "lesser" races to stop undead threats in the world of Golarion. Currently she and her companions are working to stop a real zombie apocalypse from happening.

And now on to the actual piece:
For this cover I started with a plain piece of white cardstock and colored it with Starburst Stains and Sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang. The large blue snowflakes were created with a Tattered Angels stencil and some Lindy's Color Shots mixed with acrylic medium. I stamped other snowflakes on with pigmented ink and embossed some crowns with a homemade mix of embossing powder. I then added the white and silver snowflake stickers before adding the title cut out with my Cricut - Lyrical Letters. The digi stamp on this was done by Kalisama on DeviantArt. I colored it with Lindy's products, acrylic inks by Daler and Rowney, and some watercolor pencils.  (I've broken down and bought some promarkers so I can do a better job with skin tones). After gluing my little Ullevi to the page I added some snowflake brads, more snowflake stickers, a gemmed swirl and some Lindy's lazer cut snow flakes colored with Magical Micas.

I really love how it all turned out. My coloring is not bad at all and the background looks awesome. Now I want to commission her to make my other characters so I can switch out the cover on my folder depending on which character I'm using!

Waste Not Want Not Wednesdays

Finally a ferret card from me. I love ferrets and own 4 of them. Most people look at me like I own 40 cats when I say I own 4 ferrets. Not sure how that ratio works out, but I think it's more like 3 ferrets equals 1 cat.

For this card I used one of my ferret stamps from Rubber Hedgehog that I got off ebay awhile back. I also used another one of my new Tim Holtz card embossing folders. I added some flowers and an embossed brad. As usual this card uses up more of my scraps. You can see some of the same papers that I used in a challenge card over the weekend. I also used a $1 stamp of some dice I found at Micheals awhile back. I love to play board games and role playing games so I had to pick up that stamp even if I hardly ever use it.

Coming up soon, probably this weekend will be a cover for my Pathfinder (DnD) folder. I finally got my prize from a contest on Devart back in December. I can't wait to to show everyone!

Summer Birds

Here is another double challenge card. The StampTV challenge was For The Birds. I also want to enter this card in Kenny K's Krafty Girls  challenge Fun in the Sun. I used my Inkadinkado bird stamp again. I just love this stamp and it's so much fun to color with acrylic inks and Lindy's Magical Micas. It turns out so cute as a blue jay. I used some DCWV paper from the Spring Glitter Matstack. The strawberry stickers are from Doodlebug and the sentiment was from some stickers I purchased ages ago so I don't know who made them. I added a little bit of ribbon for something extra. The card is simple but super cute and bright and sunny. It was nice to make a card without using up more of my scraps for once.

Challenge Card - Distress and Breaking all the Rules!

This first card I am entering in two challenges the first is StampTV's Mix it up Monday challenge: Breaking all the Rules. I used several clashing patterns, I added 2 different brads and angled my images. This card is also for a Dream Valley Challenge. The theme is distress. I distressed the base card using some Tim Holtz inks and some stencils as well. All of the patterned paper was altered using Lindy's Stamp Gang products. I used a bunch of the Moon Shadow Mists and just a little bit of Starburst Stains. I also added some Lindy's to the flowers to change the look. I added a little bit of black Tim Holtz ink as well to bring out the copper Thinking of You image. My favorite part of this card was the super cool Tim Holtz embossing folder I found at Jo-ann's. It came in a pack of three cards. I love the look over the Cordinations Tim Holtz paper and inked up in Black Soot. I will probably be using those folders a lot on my antique themed cards.

Waste Not Want Not Wednesdays

Here is my Wednesday scrap card and a card for a StampTV challenge. The challenge was clean and simple and summer. I used some scraps of paper from another card and stamped a simple image in brown. The only time I spent on this card was the two flowers. I colored them with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Products then added a brad. It's a bit of a late summer card, but I love the colors.
